The series “Bärenreiter’s Concert Pieces” presents further editions with works by Oskar Rieding (BA 8982), Friedrich Seitz (BA 8979) and Joseph-Hector Fiocco (BA 8977).
All editions contain a solo violin part and a piano part for the piano accompanist. The series is edited by Kurt Sassmannshaus, the internationally-renowned violin teacher and co-author of the Sassmannshaus violin school tradition.
His forewords introduce these little gems and include tips for successful first concerts. These editions form an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus violin school tradition and can be used in parallel from the third volume onwards or alongside any violin method.
The series will be continued and will introduce students to more demanding repertoire with a gradually increasing level of difficulty.

Complementing Bärenreiter’s editions of the works for violin and piano based on the Urtext of the “New Schubert Edition”, comes Schubert’s utterly charming Rondo in A major for Solo Violin and Strings. The Rondo, dated 1816 is a one movement work containing lyrical as well as virtuoso solo passages and can equally be performed with single strings or with a larger string ensemble.
Our new edition contains an informative introduction (Ger/Eng) by Schubert scholar Michael Kube who is also the arranger of the piano reduction.

SCHOTT Ries – Perpetuum Mobile Βιβλίο για Πιάνο και Βιολί
As a musician, Franz Ries (1846-1932) is almost forgotten today: the composer, violinist and ‘Königl. Sächs. Hofmusikalienhändler’ studied at the famous Paris Conservatoire to be a violinist. Then, the nephew of Beethoven’s pupil and friend Ferdinand Ries started a glittering solo career which he had to end soon after for health reasons. From then on, he turned his whole attention to the music publishing business and occasionally even contributed little compositions, such as ‘La Capricciosa’ or the newly published ‘Perpetuum mobile’ Op. 34, to the programme of his publishing house. This is the fifth movement from his Suite No. 3 for violin and orchestra (or piano), created around 1870. The little virtuoso piece sweeps by like a whirlwind, hopefully taking only the listeners’, not the violin playing performers’ breath away!
