Η οριστική έκδοση (1987) της κλασικής διδασκαλίας πιάνου. Περιλαμβάνει εισαγωγή από τον γιο του συνθέτη Peter Bartók. (Αγγλικό / Γαλλικό / Γερμανικό / Ουγγρικό κείμενο). Το 1945 ο Bela Bartok χαρακτήρισε το Mikrokosmo ως κύκλο 153 κομματιών για πιάνο γραμμένο για «διδακτικούς» σκοπούς, βλέποντάς τους ως μια σειρά από κομμάτια σε πολλά διαφορετικά στυλ, που αντιπροσωπεύουν έναν μικρό κόσμο ή ως τον «κόσμο των μικρών παιδιών “. Στυλιστικά, το Mikrokosmos αντικατοπτρίζει την επιρροή της λαϊκής μουσικής στη ζωή του Bartok και οι ρυθμοί και οι αρμονίες που χρησιμοποιούνται δημιουργούν μουσική που είναι τόσο σύγχρονη σήμερα όσο και όταν γράφτηκε ο κύκλος. Τα 153 κομμάτια που συνθέτουν τον Μικροκόσμο χωρίζονται σε έξι τόμους διατεταγμένους σύμφωνα με τεχνικές και μουσικές δυσκολίες.
