Barenreiter Rameau – Pièces de Clavecin Βιβλίο για πιάνο
This edition consists of the collections Premier “Livre” (1706), “Pièces de Clavecin” (1724, 1731), “Nouvelles Suites de Pièces de Clavecin” (ca. 1728), “Cinq Pièces” (1741) and “La Dauphine” (1747). The musical text is based exclusively upon the composer`s own First Editions, for we no longer possess autograph manuscripts of Rameau’s harpsichord compositions, with the single exception of “La Dauphine”. The original ornament signs are employed throughout. The written texts appended by Rameau to the Second and Third Collection of his harpsichord pieces are here reproduced for the first time together with complete English and German translations. The facsimile reproductions have been included in order to assist the performer better to assimilate.

Barenreiter Saint-Saens – Allegro Appassionato in B Minor Op.43 Βιβλίο για τσέλο
Since its premiere in 1873 this work has held an important place in the violoncello repertoire. It is on the one hand a short charming composition; on the other hand, equally important, is its use in instruction during the first few years of playing. Central here are the articulation of the opening theme and its various repetitions juxtaposed with lyrical passages calling for legato playing.
Christine Baur’s new scholarly-critical edition is based on a thorough examination of all the sources, including Saint-Saëns’ later orchestral version. The edition incorporates many articulation alternatives for the soloist, which are marked “ossia” above the solo cello line in this version for cello and piano.
This important new publication offers cellists not only an Urtext part, but also one with bowing and fingering; both parts have a fold-out page so that no page turns are necessary.

These two new editions (BA 6978 BA 6979) of David Popper’s cello studies are the first modern publications of these standard compositions. The Austrian born Popper composed these studies during his tenure at the Royal Conservatory in Budapest in the late 1890s and they were first published between 1901-05 .
The 40 etudes found in op. 73 focus on a wide range of techniques found in the major works in the cello literature. The 15 easy etudes are designed for the first years of lessons which lead to the 10 grand etudes which in turn lead to the op. 73 etudes.
Martin Rummel’s editions offer new bowings and fingerings to reflect modern playing.
The 40 Etudes op. 73 also includes a German / English brochure containing technical tips and information by Rummel as well as references to the cello literature where the individual techniques are found.

Amid the abundance of virtuoso literature for this instrument, Dvorak’s Violin Concerto in A minor is one of the lyrical gems which betray the composer’s Czech inspiration. He was encouraged to write it by the fine German violinist Joseph Joachim, upon whose instigation Dvorak re-worked the entire concerto and dedicated it to his friend.
This world famous concerto may be studied in more detail with the aid of Karel Solc’s piano reduction, which is part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
