Το Lesson Book 1 είναι για προ-ανάγνωση. Έννοιες που διδάσκονται:
Πώς να καθίσετε στο πιάνο
Σωστή θέση στο χέρι
Ψηλές και χαμηλές
Ηχηρό και απαλό (forte και πιάνο)
Τοπογραφία πληκτρολογίου
Γραμμές πενταγράμμου και μέτρηση του ρυθμού, τέταρτες, μισές, ολόκληρες νότες και παύσεις.
Επαναλαμβανόμενα σημεία
Τα πρώτα κομμάτια του βιβλίου παίζονται στα μαύρα πλήκτρα. Αργότερα στο βιβλίο, οι Ντο, Ρε  Μι για το δεξί χέρι και Ντο Σι Λα για το αριστερό χέρι (μεσαία θέση της Ντο) διδάσκονται με σημειογραφία (το όνομα της νότας είναι γραμμένο μέσα στο ”κεφάλι” της).
