The studies have been compiled in order of difficulty to enable the player to gauge his or her progress.
At a recital, naturally, this order should not be maintained; it would be more to the point if the pieces selected for performance were arranged into one or more (related) series and the pieces within each series played ‘attaca’. The edition includes examples of such grouping arrangements.

**Clear the stage for the children! – Playing music together is fun!** Good ensemble-playing, however, must be learned at an early age. This series has been designed to support those music teachers who want to develop the ensemble-playing skills of students at an early phase. Pieces have been carefully selected in order to appeal to young students and foster their enthusiasm for ensemble-playing. The arrangements are attractive and – since none of the parts are monotonous – provide incentive for students to practice at home. in order to accommodate individual needs, the arrangements allow a wide a variety of instruments. The first and second parts can be played by any number and combination of recorders, flutes and violins. The piano part has been kept at same technical level as the other instruments, allowing young pianist the same ensemble possibilities that are enjoyed by other instruments. Bassoon and/or cello and/or string bass can all play the bass voice. Finally, the percussion part has been kept simple enough so that all instrumentalists can take their turns at it. It has been our experience that the playing of new instruments enhances most students’ musical enjoyment. Imaginative texts that link the musical numbers to each other have been included. They can be read between the individual pieces. in short, everything that is necessary for a successful performance has been included.

Robert did not, however, consider them to be “good or worthy enough” of her. Even so, he later counted the Romances amongst his most successful works- in particular, the “middle one” mentioned above is probably one of his most beautiful and melodic compositions. This Urtext edition has been revised to include the latest in scholarly research and now includes an extensive critical report.

Clear errors and carelessness of the source are corrected and indicated by footnotes or brackets.- Cadenzas and entrances: They come from one of the most established Mozart connoisseurs, the musicologist and pianist Robert D. Levin. The suggested cadences and entrances are characterized by the fact that, thanks to a sophisticated system of references, the musician can always put together new, “own” cadenzas from the material offered; Levin’s proposals thus come very close to the improvisational character of cadences and entrances.Attention: The cadences and inputs are subject to copyright and are protected worldwide (GEMA); please report your use in performances and recordings to the publisher or GEMA.- Piano reduction: It was written by the profound Mozart connoisseur and renowned thoroughbass specialist Siegfried Petrenz. He strives for a good-sounding, technically not too demanding piano setting that stands out clearly from the common orchestral piano reductions. This also takes into account the typical teaching situation in which a professional répétiteur does not necessarily always accompany the flute.
